CHRISTUS St. Joseph Hospital Family Practice Residency Program -- strong, innovative and guided by an energetic faculty.  The Family Practice Residency Program is built upon new ideas.  Your input will not only be welcomed, but encouraged.  Teamwork and mutual respect among residents, faculty & staff has been the key to success for this program. A balanced equation between didactic and hands-on experience has given the residents and the graduates of this program the proper preparation for their career.  The unique experience the residents receive during their training equip them not only to deliver high quality healthcare, but also enables them to teach high quality medical management and procedures in both an inpatient and outpatient setting. This program boasts that 40% of its graduates have gone on to become full-time teaching faculty in programs across Texas.

  This program offers strong inpatient exposure including critical care management. The hospital's full range of community-based services encompasses everything from ER to mental health, and its broad spectrum of specialty areas includes microsurgery and cancer research.  Procedural skills training abounds in the hospital as well as clinic setting offering you a wealth of training experience for a firmly grounded practice.

  This program has a very strong didactic curriculum that covers comprehensively and in-depth all aspects of family medicine.  Daily noon conferences, morning report, in addition to weekly board review sessions all serve together as an vehicle of excellence carrying out our educational mission.

  CHRISTUS St. Joseph Hospital has in-house residency programs in general surgery, obstetrics/gynecology and plastic surgery; and The University of Texas HSC-Houston affiliated programs in radiology, orthopaedics surgery, and urology.  Family practice residents will enjoy frequent interaction with all of them, as well with staff of highly regarded specialists, the vast majority of whom are either board certified or board eligible.  A fourth year family practice clerkship is also available for interested medical students.
