Organizational Commitment
to Graduate Medical Education
CHRISTUS Health, doing business as, CHRISTUS St. Joseph Hospital, is
committed to the provision of the highest quality graduate medical education for the
residents who choose to come to our residency programs. St. Joseph Hospital appeared on
the first list of intern training programs approved by the American Medical Association more than
65 years ago. The Hospital's commitment to medical education produced many of Houston's top
physicians and has kept St. Joseph at the forefront of breakthroughs in medicine. Medical education plays a crucial role in the fulfillment of the
mission of care of the CHRISTUS Health System. That mission is to administer to the
spiritual, as well as, the emotional and physical needs of patients. While maintaining the
ideals of the Catholic doctrines, CHRISTUS Health is committed to extending the healing ministry
of Jesus Christ through:

CHRISTUS St. Joseph Hospital will have an organized graduate
medical education program that assures proper clinical, personal, and spiritual
guidance and supervision for its interns and residents, thus facilitating
development of the whole person. This guidance and supervision will be
done while ensuring an environment of healing, hope, and quality patient care
under the shared values of service, performance, integrity, respect, innovation,
and teamwork.
